Is it too early to plant grass? There are grass seeds being sold that claim they are coated with fertilizer, etc. Is this a marketing gimmick or is it beneficial? Thanks, ------ Donald

The best time to plant grass in central Maryland is in the fall. The second best time is in early spring--usually early March. If you are going to plant grass this spring, do it as soon as possible so as to allow the roots to become established before the heat of the summer. It is a good idea to put down a starter fertilizer with your seed, so the seeds that are coated with fertilizer might be a reasonable idea. http://extension.umd.edu/sites/default/files/_images/programs/hgic/Publications/HG102%20Lawn%20Estab... vw
