Best Veggies to Grow

Asked March 27, 2014, 2:28 PM EDT

I live in Gillette. I am a first time gardener, can you tell me what are the easiest things to grow?

Campbell County Wyoming

Generally, cool season crops and root crops do best in Wyoming. Those include lettuce, spinach, peas, carrots, beets, potatoes, and rhubarb. Some fruits that do well include fall-bearing raspberry, and ever-bearing strawberry.

Plants like tomatoes, peppers, squash, corn, and beans can be grown here, but they do best in warmer climates with longer growing seasons. As a beginning gardener, I would recommend getting these at the farmers market.
