Livestock shelter positioning

Asked February 14, 2014, 12:09 AM EST

I would like to know if there is an optimal orientation in regards to winter storms for a llama shelter to be placed in an open field. If so, which direction should the open side face for the best protection from the winter weather? The 12' X 12' shelter will be open only on one side. The site is located on the extreme western edge of the Willamette Valley off Territorial Hwy. a few miles north of Fern Ridge Reservoir dam. Thank you, Jay

In general throughout the year wind comes from the north, south, and west in the valley. Having the opening oriented more towards the east will offer the best protection year round as far as cool and warm air flows.

Thank you Chrissy.
