My grandson lives in Maple Grove. This year he was elected to the student council. For one of his projects he would like to have all the students plant a tree. Can you tell me where we can get seedlings or something similar at a reasonable price or even free. Thank You Kathy Mullen

Hi Kathy - and thanks for your fun request! This sounds like a great project for young folks who should be able to observe the growth of "their tree" for many years.

The Minnesota State Forestry division has made seedling available for a low price, but they need a minimum order of about 500, I'm afraid. I have heard that the Arbor Day Foundation also provides young trees at a reasonable price. Here is a link to their website:

In the meantime, a really great resource for your grandson to learn more about tree planting and care is this website - My Minnesota Woods:

I hope this is enough information to get you started. Please contact AaE again if you have further questions.
