Starting a Food Forest

Asked October 25, 2013, 3:51 PM EDT

I'm looking for help in transforming my 5-acre property into a self-sustaining food forest (in the spirit of "permaculture"). Right now, I'm in the discovery and concept development phase. What federal, state, local resources (e.g., education, financial incentives, community support) are available as I mature through this project?

Here are several suggestions to get started. Do an internet search on “permaculture, maryland” (there are lots of entries). You can also contact soil conservation office in Howard Co. to see what services and programs are available. http://howardscd.org/
Finally, see the attached website regarding Michael Judd, Principal Designer. He has worked with agro-ecological and whole system designs throughout the Americas for the last 18 years focusing on applying permaculture , etc.
