Hello,
If you are looking for a lawn in a forested area, I don't have suggestions for you. Lawn type grasses don't perform well in highly forested areas. You could try some ground covers, but they don't hold up to being walked on. Forested areas in nature tend to have a mix of plants and understory shrubs.
There are some native groundcovers you could try such as horseherb. https://npsot.org/TrinityForks/TrinityForksWeb/NICE/Horseherb_information_sheet.pdf
If you want to go with natives, I'd recommend checking out the Native Plant Society recommendations or the Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center. http://npsot.org/TrinityForks/ or wildflower.org.
Let me know if I can assist you further.

I meant that the once treed and shrubed covered space now has a house and a 15-20 foot ares of fresh sandy soil to grow tolerant wild short grasses in-which do I choose? Thank You!

You emailed me directly, correct?

I did but I updated the comment on here in case anyone else were to respond:0) Thank you!!!
