Sorghum Cane Extraction

Asked October 23, 2013, 9:54 AM EDT

Greetings! We planted milo sorghum this year as an experiment and I can't find a cane juice extractor. (I realize this is not the typical sorghum for juice but the stems are sweet and I want to try it anyways). I also need advice on harvesting and drying and separating the seeds so we can make flour. Any help you can give would be appreciated. I do not wish to purchase an extractor that costs more than $180 including shipping since this is an experiment for us--perhaps you can advise how we can build a small one or find a local farm that we could rent time on their extractor? I've searched the web extensively and cannot find a small extractor in this price range.

I couldn't find very much information on seed cleaning. Try Googling small scale threshing. A few things may come up.
