Hello. My lawn has gotten progressively worse over the past few years, with a brownish/reddish weed spreading in spots over at least half of my 2 acres. I have used pre-emergent weed kill in the spring and tried to fertilize for grass growth in late fall, but I can't stop it from spreading. Do you recognize this weed? Do you have any ideas of how to kill it? I have provided 4 different pictures. Thank you for your help!

Although we cannot see the definitive features of the weed, based on the season and the color of the dying weed, it is most likely crabgrass. Crabgrass is a summer annual and will leave seeds behind that will germinate next spring.
