What grass survives salt used in winter?

Asked October 7, 2013, 9:15 PM EDT

Can you recommend a grass to plant in an area that is prone to salt damage? This would be in areas along the curbs, sidewalks and driveways.

Winona County Minnesota

Use perennial ryegrass, fine fescue, and tall fescue for home lawns where salt levels inhibit Kentucky bluegrass growth. Watering the affected areas heavily in early spring will help flush salts below the root zone.
