What kind of stinkbug is this?

Asked October 1, 2013, 2:28 PM EDT

We have lots of green stinkbugs and brown stinkbugs, but I've never seen one like this. What kind is it? Is it anything that I should be worried about? (I grow corn, soybeans, wheat and grapes)

This stink bug appears to belong in the group Edessa. This has been found in the mid-Atlantic previously. I was unable to find any information regarding its general biology; thus I suspect that although it will feed on plants, the damage it does is little compared to our agriculturally important species you have already mentioned. It also is probably not very common.
