What to do after flood left a foot of mud over septic field?

My yard was flooded, leaving about a foot or more of mud over the field. Does that matter as to the functioning of the septic system? In other words, does it matter how much dirt/ground is on top of my septic field? I'm even thinking making berms with some of the mud/dirt over the field.

Most likely, the mud/dirt deposit will not affect the function. However, you probably should have your system inspected by a septic installer after things dry out.
