Ornamental pear tree

We have a 27 year old ornamental pear tree that has been shedding leaves all summer. I understand these trees only live about 39 years. Not sure if problem is age or disease can be cured.

Without seeing the leaves, it is hard to diagnose the problem. Take some green and yellow leaves into your local cooperative extension office. Call ahead and ask for a master gardener to look at your samples.

A common disease of these trees is blight. See:
