Will herbs grow indoors without grow lights?

Can I grow herbs indoors during the winter without grow lights? I have a southern exposure window and I want to grow parsley, thyme, and rosemary.

Many people grow herbs indoors with varying degrees of success. The more light, the better the results. When the days are shortest, most herbs become weak and spindly without supplementary light. However, little is lost in an attempt to grow them in a sunny window and the results may be rewarding. Some herbs tolerate indoor conditions better than others. Rosemary and thyme are among them. Parsley is not, but it’s worth a try.
