Red potato spots

I sliced a recently dug red potato and found light brown spots all through the tuber. Is is still safe to eat?

Yes, it is safe to eat. The brown spots could have been caused by a nutrient imbalance, early insect feeding, or an issue with watering. If the leaves were still normal (no spotting), then this was not caused by a disease.
