Our neighborhood is losing oaks. We believe it is gypsy moths, based on species information. What is the status of gypsy moth control in the eastern part of the County? What are our options - and is there any County assistance - for introducing specific species mating-disruption (SPLAT GM)?

Howard County Maryland trees and shrubs oaks gypsy moth

To our knowledge there is no county program dealing with gypsy moths. You may wish to call the Maryland Department of Agriculture, 410-562-3779 for information on the state-wide spraying schedule.
We are also curious how you determined that your oak trees are infested with gypsy moths.
