How can I get my produce into schools?
Schools purchase a wide variety of food for students and faculty. Some are beginning to participate in the national "Farm to School" program sponsored by the USDA. Here's a link: http://www.farmtoschool.org/
If your local school is not yet involved, give them a call and provide the information on the program. Then, you may also initiate discussions about the benefit of purchasing local apples (or other foods) from you and area farmers/growers. It's a great benefit and opportunity for the school system.
You might also contact your local Extension office and talk with them about local programs supporting local agriculture.
