Broken limb repair on fruit tree

Asked August 30, 2013, 1:56 PM EDT

I recently had a large limb break on my Persimmon tree and I want to know what I can do to help the tree survive. It was overburdened with fruit and I didn't get to it in time. Thanks>

Clean up the break, the rough edges in such a way that the bark (cambium) of the tree can eventually roll over the wound. I don't recommend painting or tarring the wound. It may inhibit healing over. Good luck. Sorry
