My husband and I have been in our home for 20 years and never had this problem until now. About 2 weeks ago we discovered evidence of moles in our back yard. They have also dug under the impatiens. How do we get rid of them? Also, we recently did work in the back yard. Would this be related?

Hennepin County Minnesota moles

I think populations of just about every critter are up due to mild weather and plenty of food. Everyone I know, myself included, is coping with critters in the garden. The best way to eliminate moles is to remove the food source. Not easy, I am afraid. The most effective way is to trap them.
