Meyer lemon

Asked August 23, 2013, 7:58 AM EDT

I have a Meyer lemon tree that has quite a bit of established fruit. It still puts on an occasional blossom but when the fruit gets to about marble size it turns and falls off. Is it the North Texas heat or something else. We water daily and feed about once a week. Thanks

It is typical for citrus in general to drop a lot of fruit; usually it is just some of the fruit and the rest remains. In most years the tree will put on much more fruit than the tree can mature. I would water more thoroughly at a given time and lengthen the interval between watering to about every three days if possible. If the soil drys out and you have to water more often that will be ok; we just don't want to saturate the root zone.

Good luck!!
