ivy planting

Asked August 21, 2013, 6:30 PM EDT

I have ivy growing in bottles with water only. I have tried to plant them in soil but every time i did the leaves turned high yellow. How do i pot them in soil without them losing there color on the leaves.

Cut the lower leaves off a shoot before sticking in water. Roots should eventually grow from where the leaves were. THEN you can plant them in the ground.
Alternately, you could plant the shoots in small pots with potting soil. Water them frequently (even daily at first) until they take root. Then transplant them.
