Thank you for your question. Your watermelon has a condition called
hollow heart . Hollow heart is an internal crack in the flesh of the melon. The cause is not known. The incidence is higher in seedless varieties and is higher in crown-set fruit that would be the first harvest of the season. I wish I had more to offer in the way of a fix for this problem, but that's not possible, since no one knows its cause. I hope this is an isolated incident and that you get a good harvest from your other melons.
