Let me get to the point (continuation of carpenter ant problem). Please give me a list of commercially available products that are proven to be effective in ridding carpenter ants. These ants are climbing up the side of my house. I've tried pesticide companies but have not found any locally that are effective. My research tells me that at least one national company has had problems and there are numerous complaints. I decided I will do the job.

A list of chemicals recommended for carpenter ant control can be found at http://ipm.ncsu.edu/Agchem/5-toc.pdf#pagemode=bookmarks&page=128 and then select "Insect control for wood and wood products" from the list on the left. Also see the fact sheet at http://ohioline.osu.edu/hyg-fact/2000/pdf/2063.pdf for general information and to make sure your problem is carpenter ants. If a mud tube is being made as they crawl up the house, it may indicate termites rather than ants.
