butter in a microwave

Is there any danger with placing cold butter (out of the refrigerator) into the microwave to soften it up prior to eating?

Hi, there shouldn't be a food safety problem to use the microwave to soften up your butter. It would be best for food quality reasons to only soften up what you will use right away. Too much microwaving and re-refrigerating will tamper with the product quality and over time flavor.
