What is the small grain growing along 80 in northern Ohio? What is the market for it? We have no oats in Iowa anymore.

Without some further description of the crop, your question is somewhat difficult to answer. I am assuming that the crop was approaching maturity since you were identifying it from the turnpike. If yes, then likely it was oats. The current uses for oats are as livestock feed or for seed. The seed can be planted soon for a forage in wheat stubble (it will get no seed head but will produce 2 to 4 tons of forage) or used as a cover crop that will winter kill.
