Type of plant
Hello! It is common mullen. It's an introduced species that is found nearly everywhere in North America. It is the range and forest equivalent of the common dandelion. It is a biannual with starts as a rosette (yr1) and shoots up a tall stalk with little yellow flowers (yr2). It is typically not a major problem as it mostly inhabits disturbed areas (like roadsides or beat up rangelands) and becomes out-competed once healthy perennials become established.
