need to know what a vine weed with red berries that look like rasberries is. stem is reddish with thorns. are the berries ok to eat?

What you describe could be wineberries, but we would not encourage you to eat anything without a definite identification.
Wineberries are a non-native invasive plant and the reddish, heavily thorned branches is one of the characteristics of this plant.
Native wild brambles like blackberries are also common in Maryland.
