With all the rain we have had here in Maryland, is there anything that can be done to keep our plants looking good and healthy instead of droopy? I would also like to post the answer on the Maryland Home & Garden Show Blog. Thanks, Jay

Unfortunately, there's not a lot we can do to bolster up the plants that are bending under the constant bombardment of excessive rain. Some plants can be supported by using bamboo splints or decorative stakes, etc., but it's not practical to support all of our plants. Good news is on the way, however. Although we will have to deal with higher temperatures, there should be a period of sunny weather arriving by the weekend and we should see a vast improvement in the 'stature' of our ornamental plants. The sunlight will literally draw them up and restore them to their natural beauty. After a few days of 'summer', we may have to provide some of those same plants with supplemental irrigation to keep them from drooping from the heat!
