Do Burr Oaks get Oak Wilt Disease?

Asked June 10, 2013, 5:54 PM EDT

We have a very old Burr Oak that a certified arborologist has told us is okay to trim mid-June as it is not a candidate for oak wilt disease. We have instances of Oak Wilt Disease within a half-mile from us. Is it okay to trim our Burr Oak - the tree company says they will use pruning paint on the cuts.
