Is shavegrass safe for animal consumption? I have dairy goats that I'm looking at moving into s pasture that has shavegrass growing in it.

Shave Grass or horsetail reeds are not toxic. It is very unlikely that your goats will consume them. They are very high in silicon, are not very palatable and do not make a good feed source. Consumption in large quantities could lead to kidney stones. I recommend that if these reeds make up a high portion of the available forage in the pasture then control measures should be taken.
