Slow to leaf out on Ash trees

Asked May 31, 2013, 4:27 PM EDT

We have several ash trees approximately 15 years old that are very slow to leaf out. Some of the trees only have the lower half leafing out sparsely. Is this due to the draught and how do we help them recover if possible? We have been putting a slow drip on them for several hours every week.

Hello,
It would be helpful to have a little more information. Could you email us with more information about the location or the trees and what other trees are next to them? It would also be helpful to know if they are next to any structures or sidewalks and more about the growing conditions. As much detail as possible would be helpful. Could you also email a photograph to mggpa@bouldercounty.org? That will help us to look into this further.

In general, a lot of trees and shrubs have been stressed this Spring due to the late freeze after many trees came out of winter dormancy, but having more info will help us answer you.

Thanks.
