Relocate groundhogs in my backyard

Asked May 30, 2013, 3:03 PM EDT

Dear Sir/Madam, This is Tia, a graduate student at PSU. I have several groundhogs in my backyard and at least one of them now has dug a tunnel to my vegetable garden. Things such like crocus flowers and cilantro were eaten by them. I wonder if I can get any help for trapping and relocating these groundhogs? Thank you very much! Tia

Groundhogs and moles are lawn excavators that can make a mess of a yard quickly. Both problem animals are best handled through trapping. Groundhogs can be caught with baits such as apples, carrots or lettuce. Live catch traps can be purchased at many hardware or farm implement stores. Another alternative is to hire a professional.
