composting with pine needles

Is composting with white pine needles a good idea?

Yes, putting pine needles in your compost bin is just fine. Many think that pine needles will change the pH of or acidify their compost, but this is simply not true: http://wood.uwex.edu/2010/11/18/pine-needles-cause/. In many areas, pine needles are prized as a mulch all by themselves. Try it—you might be pleasantly surprised how nicely pine needles lend themselves to being a superior mulch around your plants.

Thank you..I did do that on a couple flower beds and it really looks nice, so I was hoping that what I heard was right...
