Is it ok to mow my grass higher than 3"
You can mow your lawn grass up to 3 1/2 to 4 inches high. Higher grass shades out weeds seeds and they can't germinate. They also provide more leaf surface for photosynthesis to occur. This improves the root system. Some people cut the grass lower in the winter so it is easier to rake leaves, or the wind blows them away more easily. Also, it lessens the chance of fungal disease somewhat then.
