Need Help with Insect Identification

Asked May 17, 2013, 12:03 PM EDT

I have some of these little guys sitting on the brick wall on the back of my house. Can't figure out what they are. I had 2 views but it only let me load one.

The insect you see on the side of your home and featured in your photograph is the Picture Wing Fly. This fly feeds on decaying organic matter and, in fact, lays its eggs in the same environment. They are harmless, but in large numbers can be a nuisance. There is no control necessary. Their presence is seasonal.
