composted manure to soil ratio

Asked May 17, 2013, 9:21 AM EDT

I have a bag of composted manure with organic material and a bag potting soil. I have several containers I would like to put annuals in. I was wondering what the ratio is for the composted manure to soil? I do not want to burn the plants. The composted manure is by Mark Man Peat.

If it's a good quality potting soil, I would not add any composted manure to it. Good quality potting soils are largely composted of organic materials. Many also contain slow-release fertilizers. There would be no benefit to adding composted manure to a good quality potting soil.

If you decide to mix in some composted manure, it should be no more than 1 part composted manure to 9 parts potting soil.
