Do I need to cut wisteria vines out of my trees? Will they harm the trees? Are they invasive? If so, can I just cut the vines at the ground level?

Japanese wisteria is a very aggressive and could potentially harm your trees. It develops into a very woody vine with a thick stem and could strangle trees. Yes, they are invasive plants. If you cut the vines back to the ground they will regrow. It is better to treat the fresh cut portions of the vine with a brush killer that contains triclopyr. There are many on the market.
