basket of gold alyssum dead?

Asked May 4, 2013, 1:07 PM EDT

i have several basket of gold alyssum in a raised bed, east and north facing. They began to green up in April, but after the last couple of snowstorms, they look like they're dead. They are normally very reliable, cold-hardy and drought tolerant perennials. I don't know if the dry winter or the sub-freezing April temperatures are to blame.

These late spring cold temperatures have caused a lot of damage to plants so far this season. As the temperature warms, plants are coming out of dormancy and are not as tolerant of sub-freezing temperatures.
