Hi, my horses are currently drinking out of a creek in Elkton. How can I test to see if it is safe for them or if I need to treat the water? Thank you!

You will need to sample the water and get it tested. i would contact my local public health or County Extension services for assistance:

Although it is fine to use streams for livestock water, your horses should never have unrestricted access due to water quality concerns. They should be fenced out except for areas around crossings or watering areas. Be sure to locate watering areas or crossings in areas not subject to streambank erosion.
