Is April too late to dead head my chaste tree?

Asked April 17, 2013, 2:20 PM EDT

Chaste tree - agnus vitex castus - I failed to deadhead after blooming last year. Will it harm the tree if I do it now, mid April?

Hello! Thanks ftor your question. It is certainly OK to deadhead your chaste tree now or pretty much any time you get the time to do it. Deadheading is not usually necessary for the health of the tree, but will give a tidier look if that is important to you. It is always a good idea to sterilize your pruners before and after you begin to limit any disease organisms. Dipping of wiping in alcohol is one easy way to do this. I hope this helps and good luck.
