High salinity tolerant trees

Asked April 15, 2013, 5:52 PM EDT

We are needing to identify shade trees that would survive in an environment identified by the USU analytical lab as having very high salinity (4.09 ECe) Could you please give me a couple of suggestions for decidious trees that would grow fairly upright yet maintain their vigor. Also any suggestions as to how to manage such trees in the future would be appreciated.

Go to the USU Tree Browser at treebrowser.org. Select for high tolerance of salt and see what comes up (63 species). Then visit forestry.usu.edu for general info on tree care.

Good luck.
