East, North or Both?
I live in Loveland, CO and planning on starting my veggie garden soon..should I set up my containers on the West or South side of my house?
Larimer County Colorado
If you're planning on growing cool season crops (lettuce, peas, swiss chard, broccoli, cabbage, etc.), then it's a great time to plant some of these crops in containers. A south-facing location will give you the greatest amount of sun--placing them on the west side will only allow for afternoon sun...most of these crops will need at least 6-8 hours/day. Be careful to protect plants if the days get very warm, as the plants could get too much sun.
If we have a very warm spring like we did last year, then some shade may be beneficial.
