transplanting onions plants that have grown from seed

I would like to know if my baby onions, transplants I have grown from seed, can be set out before the last frost date?.Will frost hurt them?

Onions are considered to be very cold hardy and should be fine. Harden them off a bit first by reducing water and gradually exposing them to cooler temperatures for a week or so before transplanting them, which encourages the thickening of a protective cuticle layer.
