Problem with black beetles on orchid blooms

Asked March 27, 2013, 4:08 PM EDT

For several years I have a number of beautiful blooms on my corsage orchid plants but shortly after the blooms open the black beetles destroy them. What can I do to stop them??? I would certainly appreciate a solution!

Orchid insect pests need to ideitified before determining what should be the course of action. Dr Mannion, put together a Orchid pest powerpoint http://trec.ifas.ufl.edu/mannion/pdfs/Pests%20of%20Orchids%20May%202008%20handout.pdf, I suggest you review the presentation. And if you have anyother question on identifying the insect or it's control ask you Manatee county Extension Service. They can be contacted at: 941-722-4524 or webpage http://manatee.ifas.ufl.edu
