Hi
The insect pictured appears to be one of the aquatic spring tails. These insects serve as food for many fish and are a valuable part of the aquatic ecosystem. As they are vegetarian, their primary diet is that of algae: leaf litter; or pollen found floating on the surface of streams of ponds.
