Overwintered Hanging Plants

Asked March 24, 2013, 12:48 PM EDT

Hi, I am in SW Medford in Jackson County. I over wintered a hanging strawberry basket and a hanging fuschia basket in my garage. Both plants appeared to survive the winter & are doing well. When is the best time to put them outside for next growing season? Today is March 24, 2013. Thanks for the advice with this.

According to the Jackson County Master Gardener book, Garden Guide for the Rogue Valley, the average dates for last frost are April 28 to May 15. Since the plants you describe are frost-sensitive, you should not put your plants out overnight before May 15. You could put them out during the day, but bring them inside again in the evening.
