My son in law has a peach tree in the Austin TX with a few of these insects on it. He is wondering what they are. Thank you in advance for your help.

The insect looks to be an immature (nymph) of a katydid. They have chewing mouthparts and would feed on foliage. It is best to control katydids when they are in this stage.
