Best shade tree for the East Mountain Area
I live in Sandia Park. What is the best shade tree for the East Mountain area? I would like to find a fast growing and hardy tree with good fall color.

A good shade tree for most situations is the cottonwood. It get to be about 50-60 ft. tall and is well adapted to arid areas of the western US. Also check the NMSU publication "Selecting Ornamental Trees for New Mexico" Guide H-328 .
