Selecting a native grass for my North El Paso County yard

Asked March 21, 2013, 1:18 PM EDT

I'd like to know what kind of native grass I should plant in my yard in the Black Forest area of northern El Paso County. My elevation is approximately 7600 feet. I'm looking for a drought-resistant, low maintenance variety. Thanks, Warren

It depends on what you are expecting a “lawn” to look like. The native grasses that would work for you will probably be the clump type or ornamental, not a traditional blue-grass type.
