Honey Suckle Plant

Asked March 20, 2013, 10:11 AM EDT

I have a honey suckle plant that I need to relocate. What I would like to know is if I can and if so how I should do it? Also can you cut off limbs and get some starts for other people to transplant? I appreciate the help.

Is your honeysuckle a shrub or a vine? Either one should transplant without too much difficulty, though you might have to cut back a vine fairly heavily to make it manageable. Whenever you transplant, dig your new hole first, to minimize the time the plant is out of the ground.

You can certainly propagate it from cuttings. They should be last year's wood. Although people often try to root cuttings in water, it's best to put them in good quality potting soil. Be sure to keep them moist. You should have roots within two or three weeks.
