voles in yard

Asked March 19, 2013, 2:18 PM EDT

I have been battling with voles in my yard and its getting worse and worse. They were in my back yard but have moved up to the front yard and now that the snow has melted, I have mounds of grass where their tunnels were. I have tried mouse traps with peanut butter and have caught a few. Have put down different applications that I got from Ace hardware and different poisons and nothing seems to help. My sod lawn is 6 years old and looked great and now looks terrible. What can I do or use to get rid of them and keep them off my lawn?

Thank you for your question. My first question is whether you are dealing with voles or moles? Please see this link for a description of the difference:

The above link, and the fact sheet available at http://ohioline.osu.edu/w-fact/pdf/0011.pdf, offers some suggestions on how to deal with the problem. Please let me know if this does not answer your question (see my email address below) and we can talk about other methods.
